Five Rules for Pitching Successful TV Series.
Most of us never take our TV ideas to the next level for three
reasons:
1. We don’t know where to go with them.
2. We’re afraid.
3. We don’t trust our own talent.
Knowing how to pitch your projects is a sure fire method for overcoming
those obstacles.
1. Research your buyers to determine if your product fits their
profile. What works on HBO is different from what works on NBC.
2. Start your pitch like a TV Guide blurb. Get their attention
in the first two minutes or lose their interest and your opportunity.
3. Pitch like a salesman instead of a writer or producer.
4. Leave nothing to the buyer’s imagination.
5. Leave a formal presentation behind for them to review.
At
the My TV Treatment six-week workshop, we’ll cover the
do’s and don’ts of how to present your concepts
to TV executives and get the impact you want. If you’re
serious about success in the TV business, learn how it works
from an experienced insider. Barbara J. Garshman has worked
on both sides of the desk as Director of Development, East Coast,
for NBC and as a five-time Emmy nominated producer and Emmy
honored writer.
