Are
You Willing To Do What It Takes?
There is nothing as exhilarating and satisfying as success.
And nothing quite as elusive. Achieving my goals has required
perseverance, a strong belief in myself, and a commitment to
do whatever it takes. Each triumph has had its own set of obstacles:
•
My promotion to Director of Development, East Coast for NBC,
where I had to start as a secretary.
• The mini-series I developed aired to critical acclaim
and high ratings, despite people’s doubts that this new
form could succeed.
• Five Emmy nominations despite ongoing creative and production
problems.
• My scripts airing after fighting for the opportunity
to write for the show.
You
can be a winner and achieve your goals if you:
1.
Admit you want to be successful. – You’re
not in this merely for creative expression. You want your work
to be televised and/or filmed. You want to win an Emmy and/or
an Oscar. You’ve been practicing your acceptance speech
since you were old enough to talk.
2. Admit you want to MAKE MONEY - If it costs
seven million dollars to do a prime-time one-hour pilot and
Charlie Sheen can get paid $350,000 per episode for a half-hour
sitcom, then SOMEONE IS MAKING MONEY. You want it to be you.
3. Accept that if you want the competitive edge, you
must INVEST MONEY TO MAKE MONEY.
• You invest in the professional expertise you need to
develop your projects and to learn how to pitch them.
• Produce professional looking treatments, printed nicely
on good paper with rich looking covers.
• Network. Taking people to lunch or a drink is part of
selling your project. You are prepared to go to LA to pitch
your projects if necessary.
• You never say you don’t have the money for what
you need to do. YOU FIND IT.
MyTVTreatment.com
